Educating orphans and vulnerable children
Friends of Fumbelo began its work in 2008, prompted by a visit to the impoverished village of Fumbelo, on the outskirts of Lusaka, Zambia’s capital. Many of the children had lost their parents to AIDS and were being raised by their grandmothers. They had never looked at a book or held a marker. All were hungry.
Seventeen years later, we have a new school building, with four committed teachers educating 150 children who otherwise would have no place to go to school.
Commitment
Our organization has visited Fumbelo 9 times over the last 17 years to meet the children and ensure that your donations are well spent.
We can assure you that a donation is a direct investment in a Zambian child who needs support.
Education
We are proud of our school, where one teacher has 25 students at a time. Fumbelo Village School’s 150 students – 25 each in grades 1 through 6 – would not be in school without Friends of Fumbelo and the generosity of its donors. Without you, these children would not be in school.
